I’m not a flightologist, but I think he needed that bit of wing.

Well, there are planes that landed with a good bit of wing shot off. But I'm not sure if delta-wing planes are among them.

Hey there. Wingologist here. While it APPEARS the wing was necessary for up-staying, that model only uses 'wings' for snack storage.

The A-4 Skyhawk is indeed not among those. I believe you're thinking of the F15. It has a very wide fuselage that produces a bit of lift.

One famously landed with most of the right wing gone. I believe it was an Israeli one

As quick as that happens, he still tried to dodge it. Impressive.

No, I'm thinking of WW1 and WW2 planes. One of the few post-war planes I am interested in is the HA-300, which wasn't used in combat.

Well, not sure then. Most of them couldn't stay up with too much wing gone for reason of thrust/aerodynamics. The ha-300 is interesting

But there was once a before time. A different time. A happier time. A better time.

He wasn't dodging as if he were the plane though, but like a man in a plane, he should have dipped his wing down and away from.

Personally, I'm quite partial to having a bomb rack jettisoned at me.

You mean Bob Vila related programming...?

Similar issues can be seen in the greater crested woodpecker population. Bomb jetison related wingtip loss is decimating the population

I'm afraid that without the ability to fly properly, this little one's mother is unlikely to accept it back into the nest.

I don't remember Bob Vila teaching me about dinosaurs, airplanes and boats, so maybe that was the after time?

Is that a skyhawk? Hope he didn’t have to eject over that water? Or did he limp it home?
