I've known many who have it. I've seen highs and lows. Its always a learning curve to it but you shouldn't out yourself in constant fear.

It takes time. It really does. Remember this is very new to you guys so breath and know that this will be second nature in 6 months.

Work closely with your doctor and diabetes educators/nurses. Routinely send them data from the CGM so doses can be fine tuned in real time

It's very hard and scary but know you aren't alone with your fears and you can handle this

Don’t feel you’re alone with this, it takes a full team effort to manage. It’s new now, but it’ll become old hand in no time!

I accidently burned my daughter on the wrist with honey glaze for a ham we were making. Hot sugar hurts and burns real bad.

Consult your doctor about insulin pump and other modern monitoring tools for diabetics. You're not alone

Message me, I’m happy to help. Son was diagnosed with type 1 at age 3, he’s about to turn 21. Just be calm.

Her doctor should have given you a diabetes management plan and help you understand what your daughter should eat. I work with a diabetic. 1

As long as she's getting the right amount of carbs and minimize the amount of sugar than you should be fine, ask doc about carb exchanges.

I like seeing all the supportive comments here. This is a valid fear but shows you're taking everything seriously- your daughter is lucky

Use your resources, keep in touch with her pcp on progress and remember most insurance has nurses you can call 24/7 if you have concerns

I've had type 1 for 14 years (since I was 6) and my advice is don't stress if blood sugar go a little high/low it will happen and that's 1/2

All good just keep an eye on it and she will be all good and if you go on holiday keep insulin in 2 different places/bags invade you lose 1

How old is your kiddo? My wife and her sister are both type 1 and have managed it most of their lives. It’s different, but very doable.

Insulin therapy is also kinda tricky until the doctors have calibrated how much insulin her body needs, most often, they will start on 1/

Its normal. Speak to someone, you feel you are the one feeling these things but others are too. You're completely allowed emotions.

Your worry will keep you on top of it. Will help you learn it faster and help you spot problems faster. You will master it!

You're doing the best you can, and that will get better with time. Love her and be there for her, and you've got this!

The beginning is always terrifying, but like most things the body needs to get used to the new adjustment. Talk to a pharmacist if worried:)

I was untreated undiagnosed T1D for most of my life until my 30s- it’s not necessarily a death sentence though it’s quality of life sentence
